Other ways to give
As well as giving money or organising a fundraising event there are a number of other ways you can support the work Under Tree Schools is doing in Malek Alel. Some of them are listed below.
Becoming a local representative to co-ordinate fundraising and other events in your area.
Becoming a local representative to co-ordinate fundraising and other events in your area.
- Donating equipment you no longer need. The list of things we can use includes laptops, printers, sewing machines, small tools, and mobile phones (unlocked). If you have any other ideas, get in touch and we will see if it is something we can use. Many people offer books and clothes and while we appreciate the thought, these are available in the South Sudan and help to sustain the local economy. It would be best if you do have surplus in these areas if you sold the goods and donated the proceeds.
- Volunteering at the school. This would be only suitable for people with considerable experience they can share with the staff or students at the school. We would be able to provide board and lodging, but travel costs to South Sudan and insurance would have to be met by the volunteer either themselves or through sponsorship. The areas of expertise we would welcome support include administration, accounts, in-country funding, teacher training, counselling and IT. Again, any other ideas you might have are always worth contacting us to see if we can use your expertise.
- Offering spare capacity on transport to South Sudan either for equipment or people.
- Sharing your knowledge of, and contacts with, agencies working in South Sudan that may be able to become partners with the school.
